Download Software

SciFinder Scholar 2006 for Windows (98/2000/XP/Me/NT4.0)

1. Download SFS2006.exe and save it to a temporary folder. (〜39.8 MB self-extracting executable.)
2. Run "SFS2006.exe" to install the SciFinder software. You can do this by:
   • Double-clicking it in Windows Explorer (or My Computer)
   • Choosing Run from your Start menu, typing in the full path to the file, and clicking OK.
3. Follow the prompts to complete the installation. For distribution information, see the Site Administrator Guide.

SciFinder Scholar for Mac OS X (10.2, 10.3 and 10.4)

1. Download SciFinder Scholar scholar-osx.dmg (a Macintosh Disk Image File) to your desktop or a download folder on your OS X drive.
2. Double-click "scholar-osx.dmg" to mount SciFinder Scholar (a Desktop Volume containing the SciFinder Scholar Application Package).
3. Open the SciFinder Scholar Volume if it does not auto-open.
4. Drag and drop the SciFinder Scholar Application Package (〜21.9 MB) to your Applications folder.
5. Eject (Unmount) the desktop SciFinder Scholar Volume.
6. (Optional) Create a "SciFinder Scholar" alias for your dock or desktop.

SciFinder Scholar (2004 Edition) for Macintosh (OS 7.61, 8.x, 9.x)

1. Download sfs2004-2.hqx and save it into a temporary folder. (〜10.7 MB self-extracting executable.)
2. Use a decompression program, such as "Stuffit Expander" to expand it.
3. Double-click on the "SciFinder Installer" icon.
4. Follow the prompts to complete the installation. For distribution information, see the Site Administrator Guide.

Note: If you downloaded SciFinder Scholar (2004 Edition) for Macintosh prior to November 5, 2004, read this.

Add-On Software for Windows

SciFinder Scholar Toolbar for use with Microsoft^R Internet Explorer (Windows 98/2000/XP/Me/NT4.0)

Quickly initiate Explore tasks for terms of interest using the SciFinder Scholar Toolbar within Internet Explorer.

1. Download SciFinderScholarToolbar.exe and save it to a temporary folder. (~23.7 MB self-extracting executable.)
2. Double-click the "SciFinderScholarToolbar.exe" icon to install the toolbar.
3. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Discovery Studio? Viewer

Discovery Studio? Viewer products from Accelrys are visualization tools that allow you to view 3D molecular models for structure results.

• DS ViewerPro may be obtained from Accelrys at http://www.accelrys.com/products/dstudio/viewerpro/index.html.
• ViewerLite is no longer supported by Accelrys, Inc. but, for a limited time, may be downloaded free of charge by SciFinder Scholar customers only. ViewerLite is provided "AS IS", without warranties of any kind. Download ViewerLite
• A software patch is available that corrects the viewing of 3D models with Accelrys Viewer products. After downloading and unzipping, read the file "MDMReadme.txt" for instructions. Download Patch.
  Note: This patch works for version 5.0 of both DS ViewerPro and ViewerLite.

Software Patch for SciFinder Scholar (2004 Edition)

Version 2004.2 includes all software enhancements for SciFinder Scholar (2004 Edition).

To patch SciFinder Scholar(2004 Edition) software downloaded prior to November 5, 2004:

Windows

1. Download sfs2004patch2.exe and save it to a temporary folder. (~5.56 MB self-extracting executable.)
2. Double-click the "sfs2004patch2.exe" icon to install the patch.
   Note: You must select the folder in which SciFinder Scholar (2004 Edition) is currently installed. The default is C:\SFSCHLR.
3. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Macintosh

1. Download sfs2004patch2.hqx and save it to a temporary folder. (~5.20 MB self-extracting executable.)
2. Use decompression software, such as "Stuffit Expander", to expand it.
3. Double-click the "SciFinder Scholar 2004 Patch 2 Installer" icon to install the patch.
   Note: You must select the folder in which SciFinder Scholar (2004 Edition) is currently installed. The default is "SciFinder Scholar".
4. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
